Book Lovers by Emily Henry
Book Lovers is the second Emily Henry book I’ve read and if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know I was not a fan of Beach Read (you can read my review here).
Book Lovers kept catching my eye on a recent bookstore visit, I read a few pages then and decided to take this home and continued reading.
Rating wise this is my highest rated romance read of 2022 (there have not admittedly been a lot of those), but this was definitely a pleasant surprise.
It’s full of tropes which I shall not name to avoid spoilers, but it’s also a book about two people who live and breathe books (as a big bookworm myself, I can relate), dropped the odd book recommendation or reference and just enough of them to not make it too annoying as this reader is not a fan of name dropping otherwise. Apparently I’m okay with it in moderation and if it’s book related.
The sisterly bond is also🥰The characters are intriguing and the setting is pretty cool too.
The book itself is not too long, the writing style is of the binge-worthy kind and the romance is the just the right kind of sweet.
Some topics are glossed over or I don’t necessarily agree with the author’s take on them, but that aside, this is a pretty solid read.
Overall, happy I gave Emily Henry another chance and I’m reading People We Meet On Vacation as I’m writing this as well. Maybe a reread of Beach Read is in order also?
My rating – 4 stars.
If I do an honorable mentions list for books read in 2022, this will likely make the list.
If you’ve read Book Lovers, let me know your (spoiler-free) thoughts in the comments, otherwise let me know if you plan on reading it.
