Reading Rush To Be Read List

The Reading Rush (formerly Booktubeathon) is a week long readathon hosted by the lovely ladies Ariel Bissett and Raeleen Lemay and aiming to unite the reader community across all platforms. More information on thereadingrush.com/

The Reading Rush is taking place from 20 – 26 July 2020 and the prompts for this round are:

1/ Read a book with a cover that matches the colour of your birth stone.
2/ Read a book that starts with the word “The”.
3/ Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen.
4/ Read the first book you touch.
5/ Read a book completely outside of your house.
6/ Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.
7/ Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.

Though 3 days late, the readathon has already started for me and I’ve already read two books. Here’s the rest of what I plan on reading (book titles linked to Goodreads):

1/ The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling

Read a book that matches the colour of my birth stone – my edition features several colours so this works just fine, right? Being a bit creative with the prompts here.

2/ The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro

Read a book that starts with the word “The” – This one I may deviate a bit from as I’ve just received a book I’m a tad bit more excited to read in the mail today, but we’ll see.

3/ Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote

Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen – this one was a bit a struggle to come with, endless scrolling of Goodreads later, I remembered I did like the movie but never got around to the book.

4/ Purge by Sofi Oksanen

Read the first book you touch – wasn’t sure how to choose this, I ended up making a pile of the books I want to read by the end of the year, closed my eyes and touched Purge at random. It has been on my TBR for a while so this may be a good time to give it a shot.

5/ Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote

Read a book completely outside of your house – doubling up on this one as I’m listening to the audiobook which is relatively short so my plan is to listen to it whenever I walk my dog this week.

6/ An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of – psychological thrillers are definitely something I want to read more of this year.

7/ A Wall of Light by Edeet Ravel

Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live – I live in Europe and this takes in Israel, it also find its place on this list as it’s one of a few remaining books I have physical copies of at my current location.

Bonus: Every year until now, there’s been a challenge to read 7 books in 7 days and because I’m not a big fan of some of the prompts, I decided I wanted to give that a shot and make it a personal challenge for myself. Book number 7 (since I’m doubling up with Breakfast at Tiffany’s) is Down and About in London and Paris by George Orwell.
