How far would one sister go for another? This book explores the topic very well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set in Nigeria, in what’s hinted to be a formerly wealthy and powerful household going through a sort of demise after the father’s (and head of family) death. His overarching influence is clearly noticeable when the family gathers to plan a service in his honor to keep up appearences. It’s the aunt forcing the idea, the mother\/wife going along with it whilst the daughters have some different thoughts they’re not sharing outright with the rest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’d really want to know who or what exactly was the father of these 2 girls, as he’s obviously had a large influence on the way his daughters behave and do things. There’s also an infamous knife, now in possession of one of the sisters while the other wonders if the “object keeps the purpose of the previous owner”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sisters are very similar in one way, polar opposites in another. One’s a Head Nurse in a famous hospital and not beautiful (said in her own words multiple times), the other gorgeous, owner of a clothing line and obsessed with social media. Different on the surface, but both go above and beyond to protect their sisterly bond, with casualties in their way. I do think one is deeply jealous of the other, one seems to be very much in her head but shows her presence of mind very clearly in a key scene towards the end. One got more attention from the family, the other got a bit distant and isolated herself through work to protect herself and her sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yes, I’m using pronouns because I’m not sure how any of their names are spelled as I listened to the audiobook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst there were some interesting quotes to takeaway from this, I wonder if my opinion would be different if I’d read the physical book as I didn’t like the narrator that much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well written and deserving of a 4 star even though I’d liked parts of the plot being elaborated a bit more. I went into it with a dose of sceptism and this came as a nice surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve already recommended it to a few people I think may like it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
