I read some great titles if I do say so myself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Book You Were Excited About &amp; Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn\u2019t?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;d be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/23395680-illuminae\">Illuminae<\/a> by Amie Kaufman and Jay Christoff and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/52867387-beach-read\">Beach Read<\/a> by Emily Henry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a03. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way) book you read?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/16126596-the-people-in-the-trees?from_search=true&amp;from_srp=true&amp;qid=ns6hxsmHEX&amp;rank=1\">The People in the Trees<\/a> by Hanya Yanagihara &#8211; can&#8217;t decide what sort of surprise this was, but a surprise nonetheless. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Book You \u201cPushed\u201d The Most People To Read (And They Did)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Same as number 3) plus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/22822858-a-little-life?from_search=true&amp;from_srp=true&amp;qid=QMW5NfnAuD&amp;rank=1\">A Little Life<\/a> also by Yanagihara. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. Best series you started in 2020? Best Sequel? Best Series Ender of 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/25615136-the-gentleman-bastard-1-3?from_search=true&amp;from_srp=true&amp;qid=foPGfwgHfc&amp;rank=3\">The Gentleman Bastard<\/a> series by Scott Lynch with Red Seas Under Red Skies being the best sequel. Best series ender goes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/31817749-the-stone-sky\">The Stone Sky by N.K. Jemisin<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6. Favorite new author you discovered in 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve definitely re-discovered Haruki Mukarami, was pleasantly surprised by Kazuo Ishiguro and was hit by the Yanagihara train. In the fantasy genre, I&#8217;d definitely point out Jemisin, Scott Lynch and Samantha Shannon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7.\u00a0Best book from a genre you don\u2019t typically read\/was out of your comfort zone?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/45023893-1q84\">1Q84 by Haruki Murakami<\/a> as I haven&#8217;t read much about magical realism till now, I&#8217;m absolutely smitten and will read more! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8. Most action-packed\/thrilling\/unputdownable book of the year?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/51594824-writers-lovers\">Writers &amp; Lovers by Lilly King<\/a> for unputdownable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. <strong>Book You Read In 2020 That You Would Be MOST Likely To Re-Read Next Year?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/42202814-the-deep\">The Deep by Rivers Solomon<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Little Life wins again! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>11. Most memorable character of 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Locke Lamora from the Gentleman bastard series by Scott Lynch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a012. Most beautifully written book read in 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perhaps and odd choice for this question but I have to mention <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/28921.The_Remains_of_the_Day\">The Remains of the Day<\/a> by Kazuo Ishiguro somewhere in this survey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>13. Most Thought-Provoking\/ Life-Changing Book of 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m repeating myself but I kind of have to &#8211; this is again Yanagihara with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/16126596-the-people-in-the-trees?from_search=true&amp;from_srp=true&amp;qid=ns6hxsmHEX&amp;rank=1\">The People in the Trees<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a014. Book you can\u2019t believe you waited UNTIL 2020 to finally read?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/16119881-the-bronze-horseman\">The Bronze Horseman<\/a> by Paullina Simons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>15. Favorite Passage\/Quote From A Book You Read In 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many a passage from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/17799.South_of_the_Border_West_of_the_Sun?ac=1&amp;from_search=true&amp;qid=xGmTXww4y0&amp;rank=1\">South of the Border, West of the Sun<\/a> by Haruki Murakami. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>16.Shortest &amp; Longest Book You Read In 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shortest was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/40010422-girls-at-play\">Girls, At Play by Celeste Ng<\/a> and longest was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/17332218-words-of-radiance\">Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To add a few musing of my own to this survey: I did not read any title from my <a href=\"https:\/\/readwithstefani.com\/mk\/the-end-of-the-year-book-tag\/\">end of year Tag <\/a>except for Red Seas Under Red Skies, but I did read 7 of the books I said I wanted to read in my<a href=\"https:\/\/readwithstefani.com\/mk\/10-books-i-want-to-read-by-the-end-of-2020\/\"> TBR<\/a>, The Guest List was a DNF, The City We Became is carrying over to my 2021 TBR and I&#8217;m currently reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, I just have not managed to finish it yet.
