2022 Reading in Review

2022 was quite the year on both a personal and professional level. I had a log going on, therein the number of books I’ve read has dropped significantly compared to previous years.

Of the 126, I’ve shelved 40 as audiobooks meaning I’ve been making good use of my Scribd subscription. I suspect I wouldn’t not have read over a 100 books without the audiobooks and I expect this audiobook trend of mine to continue in 2023.

Only 16 were ebooks and my Kindle has not seen much action, looks like I’ve not used it at all between April and July. I’ve bought way more books than I’ve read so I should really make an effort to read more e-books.

I had my reading challenge set to 1 book and I’ll do the same this year as well. It allows me to take my time with books, mood read and not compete with myself to pass the goals from previous years.

Looking back at my TBRs posted though the year via my Goodreads shelves:

  • 47 books marked as to read – I’ve only read 28. Several were releases that have been pushed back or I’m waiting for a particular edition to come out. Others, I’ve simply lost interest in since the day I actually marked as to read on there
  • 19 books added to my anticipated reads shelf – 3 have been pushed back, 1 lost interest, 2 I’m waiting for a specific edition and 10 of them I’ve actually read
  • My ’30 Under 30′ project – I’ve read 10 from the original list, and I’m the process of tweaking this list as well as I’ve lost interest in some of these

Though this blog post hints at some of my reading goals for 2023, I’ll share a full list later this month as part of the ‘Top Ten Tuesday’ prompts.

Here’s my actual year in books as per Goodreads:

Here’s the full list I read in 2022.

I was struggling to come up with my favorites of the year, I’ve not give out a lot of 4 of star ratings. Check back tomorrow for my top ten list.

How was your 2022 reading wise?
