2021 Bookish and Reading Resolutions

Read AT LEAST 104 books

That’s about 2 books a week and considering I read 230 in 2020, I imagine I’ll read way beyond that. However, I do not want the pressure of too big a number for my Goodreads challenge. Check out my end of year survey here.

Read more on my Kindle

Last year I found myself ordering a lot of books. Due to space limitations and the ever growing TBR, I’d really like to use my Kindle Paperwhite more. An added bonus is that I generally read ebooks faster than paperbacks.

Step up my Bookstagram game

Learning more about bookish photography, posting frequently and increasing follower count and engagement. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this lately. You can check it out at @readwithstefani.

Participate in a READ-A-THON & do more reading challenges

Not sure which one yet, too early in the year to tell, but I’d like to participate in at least one read-a-thon. I also want to be actively involved with the rest of the community participating in said read-a-thon and do more reading challenges as they’re so much fun. I participated in the 2020 edition of the Reading Rush, read 30 books in 30 days and also read thrillers from my brother’s bookshelf.

Watch less BOOKTUBE, but also resume own BOOKTUBE channel

Reason being I’m subscribed to over 200 channels and it’s hard to keep up. I find myself opening the app and watching for hours on end, every SINGLE day and that’s too much. At the same time, I did record videos for most of 2014 and 2015 and I’m interested in trying video blogging once again.

TBR goals
  1. Read the books on my 2021 TBR – This includes a list of 26 titles that I’ve recently shared in a blog post. You can check it out here.

2. Read my most anticipated books of 2021 – Overall, I’m not really keeping up with releases that much but I do have a general idea of books I’d like to read during the year. I shared them in last week’s TTT.

3. Read the books on my winter TBR – also shared in a previous TTT.

4. No more monthly TBRs – I deviate from them anyway so they’re definitely do not work for me. Monthly wrap ups I’m yet to decide on but I do share them on my Instagram.

Write more reviews

I do write reviews on Goodreads, the goal specifically is to write them on the blog as well.

Make more bookish friends

Needs no explanation, right? And also related to another goal to get more involved in the community and blogosphere.

Read more classics, but also read from new genres

I’ve recently gotten quite a few Vintage Classics edition and I’d like to read them, one can always read more classics. At the same time, I want to explore some new-to-me genres and authors.

Read more diversely

I know what I like and I tend to stick to it and in 2021 I’d like to try and read more diversely, especially from cultures unknown to me, POC authors and marginalized groups. I have a tentative list, but any recommendation would be appreciated!

I need to get back to my PAperwhite as well. I read a ton of books on it in 2019 and then not so many last year.

Same with Instagram!!! I love the platform but always forget to post!

  4. This is such a great list! We have a lot of goals in common this year.

I relate to so many of these goals! I want to grow my Bookstagram and I definitely need to read more of the books on my Kindle! I also read 230 books last year but have lowered my goal for this year – I didn’t anticipate having so much free time last year!

Funnily, something I might be aiming for is to get sucked into LESS readathons this year! 😂

  7. Yes to so many of these! Make more bookish friends, use my kindle more are definitely goals of mine 🙂

  9. Oh, I forgot about readathons! I also participated in The Reading Rush last year, and I loved crossing off so many books so quickly. It’s definitely one of my goals, as well. Good luck!

  10. I completely get you on watching BookTube for hours 😅 I am guilty of that! I need to get into classics too. Also, 230 is an impressive amount of books! 🤩 You’ve got some interesting resolutions here! Good luck with these! And I hope you can accomplish all these 💖💕

  14. Tons of great goals here. I will be cheering you on! If you want help with the TBR, I do a weekly Tackling the TBR and if enough people are interested I would do a linky for it.
