Ten Books Set in Magic Schools

Today’s topic is Books Guaranteed to Put a Smile On Your Face. In true Stefani fashion, I’ve come up with another topic. After all, we could all use some extra magic in our lives right about now. Without further ado, here’s ten books set in or around magic schools:

Some of these I’ve read and loved, others I didn’t like as much, some I’m yet to read.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – read and loved

The Magician’s Guild by Trudi Canavan – currently reading as recommended by the Storygraph, mixed feelings so far but planning on writing a review once done

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss – read, loved and due a reread

Sabriel by Garth Nix – read and loved

The Magicians by Lev Grossman – want to read

The Black Prism by Brent Weeks – I strongly disliked the main character and his attitude but the magic school and magic itself were pretty good

The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend – read and loved

Vita Nostra by Marina & Sergey Dyachenko – want to read

The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang – want to read sooner rather than later

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik – want to read

Ah, I love Sabriel so much! I actually just got an ARC of it’s prequel- Terciel and Elinor, haven’t read more then the first few pages yet, but it seems like it’s going to be really good. Plus Mogget is in it, and that’s always a good thing.

Great list! I can’t resist a book set in a magic school!

  3. I love a good magic school story too! I just really lets you delve into all sorts of adventures and worldbuilding. I’m hoping to pick up (finally) Nevermoor next month.

  4. A great list! And so relevant as the kids are back in school now.
