I Need the Next Book ASAP: The Family You Make by Jill Shalvis

I love me a Jill Shalvis book! Whenever I’m in need for some romance, a touch of drama, but likable characters and good dialogue, I know I can turn to one of her books. I’m trying not to binge read them all and save some for a rainy day.

I didn’t know a new series was starting until I saw someone on Bookstagram reading it and immediately looked up the audiobook on Scribd. The audio is quite good and was the perfect combo on a frosty January morning.

Levi and Jane meet on a ski lift, things get scary when the weather turns bad and they’re stuck on a gondola. Thinking they’re not going to make it and it’s time to say goodbye to their families, Levi tells his mother that Jane is his girlfriend. Levi’s family is something else! I loved each and single one of them.

After the traumatic gondola experience is over, it’s clear Levi is smitten, but Jane is not ready for a romance quite yet. Used to hopping from one place to another and distant from her remaining family, she finds it hard to stick around, but has some surprisingly good and supporting friends around her. It’s up to Levi to convince her to give them a shot.

Shalvis’s writing style is easy to read, you can keep turning the pages (or in my case enjoying the audiobook) and it’s over before you know it. You want to know what happens next every single time. And this time especially so. I may even go as far as to say that the first book in The Sunrise Cove Series may be my favorite Jill Shalvis book yet.

Fingers crossed that book 2 will come out soon(ish) and will feature Charlotte and Mateo cause let me tell you, their chemistry was something else. The sparks were everywhere.

I’m not huge on romance books, but sometimes I’m in the mood for a good cozy one. I might look up this author next time I’m in the mood.
