Mid-Year Book Freak-Out Tag 2023

Click the image to be taken to the blog hosting Top Ten Tuesday

Today’s topic is Most Anticipated Books Releasing During the Second Half of 2023, but looking through the list I put together at the beginning of the year, most of those books have already come out. So, here’s my mid-year book freak out book tag instead.

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2023?

I thought this would take some thought, considering I’ve read 60+ books so far….and yet, the answer is simple: Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven! It’d be interesting to see if anything changes in my end of year reading wrap up.

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2023?

I’ve only read a few sequels and out of those I’d only name The Sandman: Act II (Sandman Audible Original) by Neil Gaiman.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to.

Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

The Armour of Light (Kingsbridge #4) by Ken Follett.

5. Biggest disappointment.

My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh.

6. Biggest surprise.

Three Apples Fell From the Sky by Narine Abgaryan.

7. Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you).

Jennifer Niven without a doubt.

8. Newest fictional crush.

No one comes to mind on this one.

9.  Newest favourite character.

The husband who’s name I cannot remember from Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears by Valentin Chernykh.

10. Book that made you cry.

No such read yet.

11. Book that made you happy.

The Anne of Green Gables graphic novel.

12. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received).

This edition of Le Morte D’Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory.

13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

Ken Follet’s new book, more classics overall and more Beth O’Leary books. I seem to be in a contemporary mood as I’m writing this.

What’s your favorite read of 2023 so far? Leave your TTT post in the comments.

Also, would love it if you check out my review of One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London. I feel like I’ve lost my review voice recently and would love some feedback on the format, length of the review, etc. Thanks a million!

Putting my list together this week I did kinda feel the second half of the year was a little slow on the exciting new releases. I liked Love, Theoretically more than her last few books, so I hope you enjoy it when you get to it.

Seeing everyone’s lists, I did find books I wasn’t aware were coming out but still haven’t reached 10. That’s good to hear about Hazelwood’s book, thank you Ellie.

Love Theoretically is one that I’m looking forward to reading, too. And I’m curious about checking out some of Jennifer Niven’s books now, too. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. 😀

  10. Fun tag! I haven’t read anything from Jennifer Niven in a while but I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read from her so far.

  11. Love, Theoretically was my favorite Ali Hazelwood to date! I’ve never Jennifer Niven, but I’ll have to check her out. I’ve enjoyed all of the Beth O’Leary books I’ve read and she has a new one coming so I’m excited for that. Glad to hear you’re a fellow fan.

This is always a fun tradition tag. I haven’t put it together in a long time, but I did always have fun with it. 🙂 Yay for finding a new favorite book AND I hope you enjoy those you still have to read. Thanks for visiting my Top Ten list on this week.
