Best Books I Read in 2025 and Reading Goals for 2026

Today I wanted to cover the beginning of the year topics that I missed in January i.e. 2025 favorites and reading my reading goals for 2026.

I didn’t read much in 2025 or at least not as much as I usually read. Most of the books I read were unfortunately in the meh category and I did not have a top 10 favorites list but here are 3 honorable mentions:

Hold on to Your Kids by Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Maté – a must read for all parents and one I would like to reread periodically.

Big Mall by Kate Black – another interesting non-fiction about how malls came to be what they are today. Short and fascinating.

We Solve Murders by Richard Osman – the only fiction book I’d point out. One of my favorite mystery authors as he writes unique characters with the quite the sense of humor. I’m excited to read more in this new series.

As for my goals…I’ve decided to keep it simple. No Goodreads Reading challenge (I set it to 1 book so I can see the ‘Year in Books’ stats at the end of the year but otherwise not too concerned with the number) nor any other challenge.

My only goal is to reduce the number of books on my physical TBR.

I also plan on listening to some more non-fiction audiobooks when the mood strikes.

That’s it. What are your goals for the year?

Leave your TTT in the comments.

  1. I loved We Solve Murders, and every other Osman book I’ve read. One of my goals is to read more of my owned books.

I haven’t read any of Richard’s books but do see them featured often, may be an author I should consider reading. 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting my list today.

Oh I didn’t know you had to set a reading goal on GR in order to see the Year in Books! Good to know! I’m also trying to let go of the number of books I read this year because there are some books I want to read slow and savor that have been on my tbr for a while and I want to focus on them this time!

  9. Here’s to a better reading year this year! Good luck with your goals!
