It Happened One Summer | Announcing the Tessa Bailey Project

Was it cheesy? Yes!

Did I love it? Oh, yes!

Told from a dual POV, from both main characters, comes a contemporary romance about an LA celebrity falling in love with a fisherman in Wesport.

We quickly learn Piper Bellinger is not your typical airhead but a genuinely good person, she’s just learnt to pretend very well. She packs away so many things to analyze afterwards with herself or her sister, I almost wanted to shake her.

Her sister is so supportive, she even moves states with her. I love a story with a supportive sibling.

Brendan is quite the character as well, so down to earth and grounding our favorite celebrity that one can’t help but wonder when the other shoe will drop.

The book is not too long, nor too short, the tension in the air is palpable. The suspension is building up, there’s hints of what’s to come in the next book. And my favorite part, the romance doesn’t develop as quickly as other contemporary romances I’ve read (I won’t name any names though).

Not going to lie, it’s predicatble. But it’s just so rare to find a contemporary romance these days not striving to meet every reader’s expectations whilst still being a good read. Not too dense, not too slow, good pacing and dialogue, interesting characters.

It’s also extremely rare for me to like both characters and want to read more from either perspective.

The truth is, I’ve been reading mostly epic fantasy lately and this was like a breath of fresh air in comparison. This came at the perfect time and I can’t wait for the next book.

Meanwhile….

I’m feeeling inspired to embark on a reading-every-Tessa-Bailey-book project over the next period and finding what my favorite is. I will read as many of their books as I can and post a review. I need to be better with reviews and have some sort of accountability about it. This announcement post can be considered part of it. I’ll link every future review here.

OMG! NO!!
(not me coming to edit the draft post several days later and realizing how many books there actually are)

Check out my review of Disorderly Conduct (The Academy #1), Fix Her Up (Hot & Hammered #1) and Love Her or Lose Her (Hot & Hammered #2).

Are you a fan of Tessa Bailey? What do you suggest I read next?
