Ten Books I Want To Read By The End of 2021

Today´s topic is Books I’d Want With Me While Stranded On a Deserted Island. As you can tell by the title, I´m doing my own thing this week.

Ruin by John Gwynne – because I recently finished Malice and Valour and gave them both 5 stars, you can bet I plan on reading the rest of the series asap.

The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters – because it’s been on my TBR for ages and if I don’t finish it by the end of the year I will most likely unhaul it.

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee – I got a feeling I’m going to love this so here patiently waiting for my paperback to arrive.

Master of Sorrows by Justin Travis Call – Have been hearing only good things on Youtube, that got me intrigued, the stunning cover might’ve helped me click the ‘Order now’ button.

The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin – I loved the Broken Earth Trilogy and strongly disliked The Inheritance Trilogy so I’m a bit apprehensive about reading another Jemisin book. Fingers crossed.

Frostheart by Jamie Littler – How to train your Gavin on Youtube is hosting a readalong in anticipation of the 3rd book in this series starting August and that’s the push I needed to read this. I’ve read many a middle grade novel thanks to discovering this channel.

From here onwards are books that are on my anticipated releases list that I definitely want to read as soon as they come out:

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang – I liked book 1, book 2 not so much and I’m definitely reading this as soon as it’s out.

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn – actually this came out this spring but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. So many books so little time.

The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles – I love his 2 other books and I’m highly anticipating another novel, I need more!

Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr – no idea as to what this is about but I saw Anthony Doerr and immediately added it to my TBR.

A book that would’ve been on this list had I not just read it is Isn’t it Bromantic? by Lyssa Kay Adams. You can check out my review here. Would appreciate your feedback on this format of book reviews.

Have you read any of these? What are your thoughts?

The Paying Guests is a great pick! I’d love to see that book made into a film someday.

  2. Great topic idea! I can’t wait to read The Heart Principle! I read The City We Became, and didn’t love it, but I’ve heard such great things about N.K. Jemisin’s work, so I figure it’s time to try a different one, along with Master of Sorrows, which has also had a lot of raves.

  3. Nice! I hope you get to all of these and enjoy them.

    Happy TTT!

I really enjoyed The Rose Code and hope you get to it before the end of the year. Some interesting books on this list.

  7. Lori says:

I’ve also been going back and forth on The City We Become. Looking forward to what you think.

  8. Evelyn Brown says:

Great list and a nice idea! I hope you enjoy these once you finally get to pick them up:)

  9. I’m eager to read Cloud Cuckoo Land, too.

  10. Frostheart by Jamie Littler seems like such a cute book to read in the winter!
Thanks for looking at my list.

  11. Such a great list. I have not read any of them, but The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang is on my TBR, I can’t wait to get to it.

  12. I want to try The City We Became too, but I’m not sure I’m going to get to it this year. It sounds good, but lately I’ve been gravitating towards light and happy books, which I don’t think that one is.

Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier!

  13. I need to finally read The Paying Guests too, since I’ve had a copy for a couple of years now! I really loved Pachinko — it’s so powerful and beautifully written. Enjoy!

  14. Amy says:

Definitely will have to look into the Anthony Doerr book! I love his work!

  15. Hannah says:

  17. I hope to read The Rose Code soon too!

  18. I’ve been meaning to try something bt Sarah Waters for ages.

  19. imyril says:

Ooh Sarah Waters is such a good pick! I adored Tipping the Velvet and The Little Stranger (and Fingersmith until the final act, but I’m grateful to it for the Korean movie version The Handmaiden which is brilliant and has a superior ending). I bounced off The Night Watch, but The Paying Guests sounds great.

  20. CurlyGeek says:

I’ve only read Pachinko, which was really great – I love a book where I learn a lot about history from a different perspective. I’ve only read Fingersmith and want to read more by Waters. Enjoy these books!

  21. Lark says:

The John Gwynne series sounds interesting; I’d like to read that. And I can’t wait to read Hoang’s The Heart Principle, though I’m like you, I thought her first book was better than her second. Great list. 🙂

  22. That’s an interesting twist to the topic. Funnily enough, the first twist I see this week.

I’ve read Pachinko, absolutely loved it, “A Gentleman in Moscow” is on my TBR list, so maybe Amor Towles’ new book follows next. And I absolutely loved Anthony Doerr’s “All the Light We Cannot See” and was thinking about getting his newest novel. So, thanks for listing them.

Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier.

I haven’t a penchant for doing my own thing lately, or, at least so it seems hehe. I can’t wait to read Pachinko. I highly recommend you read A Gentleman in Moscow as soon as you can, it’s a brilliant book. Thanks for visiting Marianne

  23. The City We Became is on my TBR. It sounds so good!

  24. Hope you get to enjoy all of these!

  25. I hope you love all of these!

  26. Rissi JC says:

Hope you enjoy ALL Of these, Stefani! I know SO many people love Helen’s novels; despite my love of the contemporary genre, from what I’ve read, I’ve never really taken an interest in them. However their covers are cute, and I certainly hope you enjoy this one more! It’s always tough when you like one book by an author but the other one lets ya’ down. Happy reading – and thanks for the visit to Finding Wonderland last week.

  27. I definitely want to read The Heart Principle as soon as it comes out too 🙂 Hope you’ll enjoy all of these!

  28. Excellent list! Sorry I’m just getting back to you now. I was on a vacation of my own, luckily not on a deserted island.

  29. Angela says:

Nice list! I’m desperately trying to avoid adding the entire thing to my TBR list because that’s the last thing I need right now, but they’ll likely all end up there anyways! 😉

  30. Great picks! I really want to read that John Gwynne’s series. 🙂
